Rosie Perez

 Rosie Perez was the daughter of Lydia Perez, a merchant marine, and Ismael Serano. She was born in Bushwick Brooklyn, New York City. She is Puerto Rican. Rosie attended Grover Cleveland High School, Ridgewood, Queens, New York. Then she began her studies at Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles, California. Rosie Perez, who was in her second year of college she was planning to relocate back to New York. She was invited to a moving-away party by her friends. She accepted Spike Lee's offer to appear in his film Do the Right Thing (1989). It was her first acting experience in a major role. Then, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Carla Rodrigo (Peter Weir’s Fearless 1993). (She lost to Anna Paquin for The Piano (1993). A lot of the criticism I got early in my career was coming from the Latin community. I remember my parents taking me out for lunch and telling me "Can you take lessons to help you tone down the accent?" or, "When it's a talk show, how could you not not be funny? The people were so critical of my voice that they dealt me a lot of criticism. I tried my best to make a change however, it was just the way I spoke. As I grew older my octaves slowed down Thank God. Boxing is all about fighting your fears. It's about fighting for yourself. Floyd Mayweather could be punched or swung clean in the middle of his body and he'd be adamant about it. I can understand what he's doing. Who spoke of Don Cornelius watching her dancing]: Don Cornelius didn't want to watch me dance. I was doing hip hop that was unfamiliar to Californians. They were only acquainted with popping and locking, and so hip-hop dancing wasn't something they were looking to master. Don was the kind of person who said "No No, no. You're a woman. I thought"What? This is very strange. It was truly bizarre.
