Suzanne Pleshette
Suzanne
Pleshette, born January 31, 1937, passed away on January 19th 2008. She was an
American voice actress, actor film, and television actor. Pleshette began her
acting career in the theater and was a part of films in the 1950s and later.
Later, she appeared in films that were notable, such as Rome Adventure (1962),
Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), or Spirited Away (192001). In later years,
she appeared in numerous television productions. She was frequently an actor in
guest roles and was Emily Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show, 1972-78. She was
awarded numerous Emmy Award nominations. Pleshette was the daughter of
Geraldine (nee Kaplan), and Eugene Pleshette. She was born in Brooklyn Heights,
New York on the 31st of January, 1937. The parents of her were Jewish
immigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary. Her mother was an artist, dancer
and choreographer, who was stage-named Geraldine Rivers. Her father was a stage
director and director of the Paramount Theater, New York City and the Paramount
Theater, Brooklyn, and later, an executive with the network. After finishing
the Manhattan's High School of Performing Arts and then attending Syracuse
University for a semester before transferring to Finch College. Then, she was a
graduate of Manhattan's most prestigious acting school, the Neighborhood
Playhouse School of the Theatre. She was instructed by Sanford Meisner, a
well-known actor. The Boston Globe described her manner of speaking and her
voice as sardonic and her voice was described as charming. When she was 20, she
started her career on stage as an actor. Her Broadway debut was in Meyer
Levin's 1957 production of Compulsion. The play was adapted from a novel
written by Loeb and Leopold.
