 Michelle Lynn Monaghan, born on the 23rd of March, 1976 is an American actor. She is most well-known for her roles in the films Kiss Bang Bang (2006), Gone Baby Gone (2007, Made of Honor (2008)), Trucker (2008) and Source Code (2011). Her role as Julia Meade, the main character in the Mission: Impossible action-spy show Mission: Impossible (2006), Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011), Mission: Impossible Fallout (2018) has been praised. Monaghan also starred in True Detective's debut season (2014) in the first season of True Detective as Maggie Hart. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award, Best Supporting Actress. She was also the character Sarah Lane on the drama series The Path (2016-18). Monaghan was also a part of Eva Geller in the 2020 Netflix thriller series Messiah The show ended up being cancelled after just one episode. Monaghan was born to Sharon Hammel (a factory worker) in Winthrop. Bob and John are her older brothers. Monaghan is of Irish and German roots, and was raised Catholic.She graduated from East Buchanan High School in 1994. She relocated to Chicago after graduating to study journalism at Columbia College Chicago. Then she started modeling. She was a model in Milan, Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong, as well as in the United States. She quit New York for an acting career after finishing her 1999 journalism degree. Prior to becoming an actor, she was models and has appeared in a variety of catalogs and magazines. Monaghan's first TV credits, as a support role, were on the show of Young Americans in 2000. Monaghan also appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in "Consent" the episode that aired on the 19th of January, 2001, and she made her first big-screen appearance the same year with Perfume as the character of Henrietta. She was also a supporting actress in Unfaithful in 2002, which starred Richard Gere, Diane Lane as well as other actors.
