Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was the daughter of actors Melissa D. Canaday (New York City) and Edward James Hyland (New York City). She started in the business at the age of 4 by doing commercial work and voice overs. The first film she made was Private Parts (1997). The Object of My Affection was her second film. She starred on Another World (1964), as Rain Wolfe, a child who was found in a park and fostered by Josie. Sarah would work alongside Amy Carlson ("Josie") several times more: Falcone (2000). Law & Order (1990). Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was cast for the role of "Audrey Hepburn" in Jennifer Love Hewitt’s The Audrey Hepburn Story (2001). The following year, she was also selected to play "Molly" in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999). It starred Kathy Bates, Audra Mcdonald, Victor Garber, Kristin Chenoweth, and Joe Gould's Secret (2000), and Falcone (2000). Sarah studied voice, tap, jazz and hip-hop along with film and television work. Sarah, a New Yorker, also appeared as an invited artist in her tap and Theater dance classes at "Reel to Real" Lincoln Center. She was educated at home by her mother up to 2nd grade, and then went to Public School. She was accepted in 6th year to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School), where she remained until she graduated in 2008. Sarah, who was now 18, moved to Los Angeles, CA, in which she was able to land a pilot with the name "My American Family". The name was picked up and was changed to Modern Family (2009). Sarah is currently playing Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) was nominated for the Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
