Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff, an actress from France, French actress was born on 3 May 1986. She attended the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris. Her role includes Loup (2009) and Sleepless Night (2011). She is the character Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was born in Quebec City to a Korean father and a French-Russian mother. He was a consul with the French government. Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her great-grandfather. Because it sounds similar to the Korean words for "spring" or "tiger" her parents named their daughter Pom. Klementieff was an American citizen for a single year. Her family had travelled extensively because of her father's work. Prior to moving to France, they lived in Japan as well as on the Ivory Coast. Klementieff's father died of cancer when she was just 5 and her mother was suffering from schizophrenia and was unable to care for children, so Klementieff was raised by her aunt and uncle who were paternal. Her uncle, whom she called "like her father" died when she was age 18. Klementieff's older brother who committed suicide years later, was her aunt. Klementieff was able to briefly study law following the death of her uncle, however she didn't find the job path attractive. In France, she worked as a salesperson and waitress. In the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris she started her acting career when she was 19. She was just a few months in studying when she won an audition for a stage show that gave her free two-years of classes with the best teachers at the school. Klementieff was the stepdaughter of Catherine Deneuve in Apres lui (2006), her first role as an actor professionally. The filming took place over three days to capture her scenes. In one scene, Klementieff was supposed to push a person down the stairs but she fell down the stairs herself, and director Gael Morel filmed that scene in the final film. Loup (2009) was her first leading role in a film. It is a French movie about a tribe in Siberian mountain reindeer herders. Klementieff spent filming hours in a camp that was far from the nearest village. The temperatures dropped to minus zero during filming.
